FierceHound
It was the period where I stopped being only a manager of work and became a creator of systems — a company, a team, a delivery engine, a client pipeline and a digital services capability.
We built Fierce Hound Media to help businesses shape their online presence through customised digital solutions: websites, software support, hosting, content, search, social media, PPC and online reputation management. The work was practical, messy and real. Clients did not come with abstract technology problems; they came with business problems that needed to be translated into digital solutions.
I was not a trained software engineer. That was precisely what made this chapter transformative. I had to learn enough about technology, architecture, delivery, content, marketing and people leadership to build confidence in myself and credibility with the team.
FierceHound taught me that entrepreneurship is not romance. It is structure, cash flow, hiring, delivery, client trust, quality, follow-through and the humility to learn every day.
Note: I have had no association with FierceHound, in any capacity, since 2015.
Anything can be learnt — if the problem matters enough.
